Jin Shin Jyutsu

 Introduction to Jin Shin Jyutsu®

Jin Shin Jyutsu physio-philosophy is an ancient art of harmonising the life energy in the body by using the fingers and hands. Born of innate wisdom and passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth, the Art had fallen into relative obscurity when it was dramatically revived in the early 1900’s by Master Jiro Murai of Japan.

After clearing himself of life-threatening illness, Master Murai devoted the rest of his life to the research and development of Jin Shin Jyutsu, gathering insight from a range of experiences and resources, including the Kojiki (Record of Ancient Things). The resulting knowledge of Jin Shin Jyutsu was then given to Mary Burmeister, who took it to the United States in the 1950’s.

Mary Burmeister began teaching the Art to others in the early 1960’s, and today there are thousands of students around the world.

Jin Shin Jyutsu brings balance to the body’s energies, which promotes optimal health and well-being, and facilitates our own profound healing capacity. It is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods, inducing relaxation and reducing the effects of stress.

Jin Shin Jyutsu employs 26 ‘Safety Energy Locks’ along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths become blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonise the complete path of the energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body and spirit.

Learning Jin Shin Jyutsu (literally translated from Japanese it means: The Art of the Creator through the Man of Knowing, Compassion), engages one in self study, self help. Through the Process of ‘Now Know MYSELF’ we recognise the wisdom of the body and we learn to interpret the messages provided and utilise them to restore balance.

“My experience with Jin Shin Jyutsu, (Energy Medicine, as I call it) is that I can be more in control of my mind, body and emotions. For example, I can alleviate fatigue, get rid of a headache, stimulate my immune system immediately so I don’t get a cold, control my weight, even give myself a facelift! I have also worked with people who had many conditions – from anxiety to cancer, and have humbly marvelled at the results – it’s so simple and yet so powerful. All I ‘do’ is introduce the Awareness of this Art. It is not something one has to create or believe in – it’s already there to be used and enjoyed!” – Astrid Kauffmann (Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner and Self-help Teacher).

Jin Shin Jyutsu® Physio-Philosophy: Introduction for Self Help

“The secret to your health, happiness and longevity lies in where you place your hands – and it’s as simple as holding a finger.”

Jin Shin Jyutsu is often described as “Acupuncture with the fingers”, but it involves no manipulation, pressure or massage, so it is safe for every body.

This ancient Art harmonises and balances the life energy in the body by using the fingers and hands (over clothing) to alleviate symptoms of discomfort and disharmony.

It is a gentle, yet powerful tool for health and well-being which is simple to learn, but the benefits are usually felt immediately.

On the self-help classes you will learn how to restore and maintain your energy levels, boost your immune system and relieve common stress-related conditions such as headaches, insomnia, anxiety and muscular tension.

Please wear loose comfortable clothing, bring a cushion, blanket and snacks.
